Music, dance, theatre, workshops, stories, talks, poetry and many more activities are being organised in various places around the neighbourhood.
Notable events among the series of festive activities take place during the week of Sant Jordi. There’s a manouche jazz, blues and soul concert by Acoustic Guiri on 23 April in front of the Biblioteca Barceloneta – La Fraternitat, with the same library also the scene for various book presentations on the days that follow. The Barceloneta community centre will also be offering the show La Tramuntana Screendance on 25 April.
International Dance Day is on 3 May, with a flashmob by students from the Alenxandre Galí, Mediterrània and Sant Joan Baptista schools in Plaça del Poeta Boscà at 11.30 am and at 6 pm.
Also in Plaça del Poeta Boscà, on 4 May in the morning, the market and neighbourhood shops will be hosting the activity ‘Juga amb comerç, descobreix el teu barri’, a game of clues with the collaboration of neighbourhood shops, and a product display.
Another notable activity is the 25th anniversary of three local facilities: the Centre Cívic Barceloneta, the Casal Infantil and the Casal de Gent Gran Mediterrània. The celebration is on Wednesday 22 May, in front of the community centre, with everyone invited to blow out the candles.
The 4th edition of the Marxa EntreNosaltres sets off from the Parc de la Barceloneta on Saturday 25 May, at 9.30 am. This non-competitive event is part of the EntreNosaltres project, a common work space for associations in Barceloneta linked to alcoholism and drug dependency, which has been coordinating addiction prevention and support in the neighbourhood since 2011.
On the same Saturday, Plaça del Poeta Boscà will be hosting the activity ‘Vine a la Repla!’ throughout the day, with workshops, displays, games for children and families, musical performances and the participation of Barceloneta’s festive giants and mini giants.
