Inspired by the classic annual boat race between the two prestigious English universities of Oxford and Cambridge, the Unirun is designed to get the twelve Catalan universities involved in a popular running event.

The run is held over a distance of 6,779 metres, the same as the boat race, and is a competition between universities as apart from registering individually to take part, runners must identify themselves with one of the twelve Catalan universities.
