Frederic Amat is one of the leading figures in the contemporary Catalan art scene. His open understanding of art has led him to include various languages in his work: painting, sketching, sculpture, installations, book illustrations, audio-visuals, theatrical scenography and interventions in architectural spaces.
The exhibition title, ‘Zoetrope’, refers to the strobe-like machine made from a turning drum with slits in it enabling spectators to see a series of drawings which appear to move when the drum spins around. The display, just like a zoetrope, aims to show the various facets of Amat’s work in relation with space, architecture, the city and landscape.
