‘The Way Things Do’

In 1987 the Swiss artists Peter Fischli and David Weiss presented the film Der Lauf der Dinge, known internationally as The Way Things Go. The film looks at the chain reaction of numerous objects and substances which are activated and linked in some way as if they were part of predetermined and ongoing action of cause and effect. The succession of actions, seemingly random and chaotic, is meticulously choreographed.

During the same decade Daniel Jacoby and Yu Araki, Serafín Álvarez and Cécile B. Evans were born, the artists who have created new versions based on the film by the Swiss duo, marking its thirtieth anniversary.
