This twofold initiative aims to warn of the increase in noise, as well as promoting certain sounds (water jets in fountains, birds, bell towers etc.) as audible heritage. To this end, and coinciding with International Noise Awareness Day on 25 April, various free activities are being organised around the city for all sectors of the public from 23 to 29 April.
One of the most notable activities is the ‘Quin soroll fem?’ programme, to find out what noise we generate. Marquees will be set up in the districts so that members of the public can use sound metres to measure environmental noise levels.
There’s also a chance to take part in a morning activity to discover the sounds of the city; a screening of the documentary Sonic Sea and a round table session with experts on noise pollution, a silent flash mob in front of Can Fabra and sound-based routes around Horta, La Marina and the Vila Olímpica in Poblenou.
