The Mobile World Congress 2018 (MWC) is back from 26 February to 1 March. The organisers are aiming to make this year’s event the best edition to date and beat last year’s record attendance figure of 108,000 visitors.
The slogan this year is ‘Creating a better future’ and the majority of global mobile operators will be present, as well as the main internet and software businesses. A total of 2,300 exhibitors from over 200 countries will be at the congress. This year’s event centres on 5G and the importance of the Internet of Things and artificial intelligence. New features for 2018 include the South Village, an outdoor work area at the main entrance to the Gran Via 2 facilities. As regards security, access to this edition of the congress will use a facial recognition system.
The MWC also offers the fifth edition of 4YFN (4 Years From Now) and other initiatives including Women4Tech.
As with last year’s edition, there are different pick-up points all around the city for congress participants to collect their passes from. They will be operative as from Thursday 22 February.
